BTS Sensors Council Representative Role

The Sensors Council liaison is appointed by the BTS President. IEEE BTS is one of the 14 founding societies.

The purpose of a council is to provide “a continuing mechanism for two (2) or more IEEE Societies, called Member Societies, to work together in a multi-disciplinary technical area of mutual interest, primarily through conferences and publications.” (References: IEEE Bylaws I-401.6, and the TAB Operations Manual, para. 4.8.)
Currently there are 26 member societies of this council. Each society is represented in the Administrative Committee (AdCom) of the council through its appointed representative.Primary Staff contact: Society Operations Manager - bts@ieee.org

Specific responsibilities include
  • coordinating with the Sensor Council Committee members and BTS staff to define, delegate and monitor Senors-related work
  • Implement and advertise all programs and activities, as well as work with the BTS President and Vice-President to help recruit individuals (BTS Members or non-Members) to fill any open/new Sensors Council Committee member positions.
  • Chair will act as the primary BTS ‘volunteer’ contact person for BTS and AdCom members, other society/council members and IEEE staff for requests, questions, issues, etc., concerning Sensors. 
  • Attending committee calls as needed

  • Desired soft skill - social media involvement
