Volunteer for a BTS Committee

As the broadcasting industry continues to evolve at an incredible pace, it generates new challenges and opportunities, the IEEE Broadcast Technology Society (BTS) provides an ideal way to stay current, and network with colleagues around the world who share your interests. 

Currently we have virtual events scheduled for Education, Distinguished Lecturers, BTS Conferences and our newest event BTS Pulse.  We are developing new webinar content for the Young Professionals, planning future events, and continuing to expand the content library for our Resource Center and attracting industry interest to our Career Site.

All of these opportunities have created a need for more volunteers to serve on the event committees and future projects, as well as the ongoing need for committee members to serve on our Publications, Chapters, Awards, Finance, Women in Engineering (WIE) and other groups within the BT Society.

As BTS is part of the IEEE association with over 400,000 members worldwide, we would like volunteers to engage with a global perspective by:  iStock 1048592720

  • Providing input at committee meetings in which individuals are able to discuss and develop their ideas for existing events as well as new ideas 
  • Leading and moderating event programs
  • Accessing resources to help bring concepts to life with shared documentation
  • Facilitating connections that lead to long-term partnerships

 

Eligibility: IEEE BTS encourages and welcomes members to participate in the committee roles. Anyone can Volunteer for a BTS Committee Role, you do not need to be an IEEE BTS member to volunteer, however this may be a factor in final selections.
The determination of BTS Committee roles is on the basis of involvement with the broadcast industry and agreement to follow the BTS mission, which is to serve the needs of the members of the BTS to enhance their professional knowledge and vitality by keeping them informed of the latest research results and their practical applications.
Term:  As a committee member, you would agree to serve for one year.

IEEE BTS greatly values the contributions of the volunteers and we hope you will consider volunteering for a committee position. If you are unsure about volunteering, you can just attend calls without committing to serve.  BTS staff and volunteers will review all of the applications of interest and will provide a timely response.
 
The IEEE BTS is a Technical Society within the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).
