Retrofitting Community Transmission Systems, Supporting Legacy Broadcast Systems

There are numerous Community Transmission Systems across the US today. Those organizations that own or manage these sites must effectively and efficiently leverage this installed infrastructure. Unlike individual stations, this infrastructure is not intended to be “install and forget”. Leases mature, new players enter the market and site moves are taking place on a regular basis. This presentation goes through multiple scenarios of expanding existing infrastructure capability, specifically on the combiner side. This can be as simple as adding a standard filter to the broadband port of an existing combiner to creating an ultra-high-power CIF (Constand Impedance Filter) module to take the full combined power of the complete combiner network. This paper will show that there is a creative solution to the new requirements of every site.
