Georgios I. Papadimitriou is a Full Professor in the Department of Informatics, Aristotle University, Greece. Prof. Papadimitriou is a Senior Member of the IEEE and holds a PhD degree (1994) and a 5-year Diploma degree (1989) in Computer Engineering and Informatics from the University of Patras. In 1997 he joined the faculty of the Department of Informatics, Aristotle University, Greece, where he is currently serving as Professor. He teaches the undergraduate courses: Communication Networks, Digital Communications, Network Security and Optical Communications and the postgraduate courses: Advanced Optical Networks, Advanced Network Security and Networks&Internet. He has supervised 4 PhD theses and a fifth one will be defended in August 2013. His major research interests are: Wireless Networks, Optical Networks, Learning Algorithms and Application of Learning Algorithms in Communication Networks. He has published 106 papers in peer-reviewed journals (41 in IEEE Journals) and 112 papers in international conferences. He is author of three books published by Wiley and editor of a book published by Kluwer/Springer. He has served as Associate Editor for the IEEE Network, the IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting, the IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics – Part B and the IEEE Sensors Journal and the IEEE Communications Magazine. His work has attracted more than 1000 citations. Prof. Papadimitriou has served as Chair/TPC Chair for 4 international Conferences, and as a TPC Member for 54 International Conferences. He also serves as a reviewer for 36 Scientific Journals. He has participated in 19 research projects, some of which as a team leader or coordinator. He serves as evaluator for international and national R&D programs.
